First Timer @ Sante Fe Indian Market - August 2024

My booth At Sante Fe Indian Market

August 2024 was a huge month for myself and my art, as I traveled down to the very well known Sante Fe Indian Market in Sante Fe New Mexico for the first time. It was my first year being juried into this fine arts market and to say it was great is an understatement; it was fabulous!

Traveling from Washington to New Mexico was an exciting adventure for me, as I had the company of my son-in-law and 5 grandchildren. The journey lasted 2 days and took us through 6 states, making it an ideal summer vacation for both children and adults. During the drive, we encountered a thunderstorm typical of the southern region. The children were amazed by the suddenness of the storm, the intensity of the rain, and the spectacular lightning display resembling a laser show.

We had a memorable time in Sante Fe, especially during the setup day when we were caught in a sudden and unique rain shower that quickly passed. Our adventures in Sante Fe included visiting a local art exhibit at Meow Cat, trying out different restaurants to savor the local cuisine, and meeting delightful individuals at the SWAIA event's Press Night.

As soon as the market started, we were welcomed with smiles and compliments on the beautiful colors in the artwork. Numerous discussions took place about the pieces, and we were fortunate to be able to share the stories behind them. The most memorable moment at the market was when we sold 'Raven Dancer,' an original piece made for the City of Redmond. We were grateful to the buyer and delighted that it brought so much happiness and joy to their home.

I am excited about reapplying to this prestigious show and hopefully attending again in 2025.
